Speechify alternatives, honestly.

Searches for Speechify alternatives usually trace back to one of two things: confusion about which of its several products you actually bought, or the credit meter inside Studio. Here is what drives the search, our honest counter-offer, and the cases where Speechify stays the right answer.

The search behind the search

Why people look for Speechify alternatives.

These are the documented complaints, as commonly reported by users and reviewers, stated without pile-on. Some may never apply to you.

Which Speechify did I buy?

Premium reads to you, Studio creates, Audiobooks is its own product, and the API is separate again. As commonly reported, people pay for one expecting another.

The trial-end bill

Reviewers commonly report surprise annual charges in the roughly $139 to $230 range when trials convert. Whatever you choose, put your trial end date on a calendar.

Credits between you and the work

Studio creation is credit-metered, with the strongest creation voices behind credit tiers, so longer projects turn into arithmetic.

The counter-offer

What Cantari does differently.

Not a teardown of Speechify, just the trade we make instead, stated plainly enough to be checked.

One product, one price list

Cantari is a single studio with three flat plans. There is no reader edition, no separate audiobook product, and no parallel credit system to decode.

Hours, not credits

Plans are sized in plain time: about 10 hours a month on Creator, about 30 on Studio, and unlimited Kokoro drafting everywhere. Sizing a project takes one sentence.

Built for making, not listening

Audiobook chapters, dubbing, speech to text, and cloning coming soon, all pointed at creators shipping audio to an audience rather than readers consuming their own.

Scores you can audit

Our engines carry third-party listener Elo with a named source and retrieval date on the open benchmark. When a claim is ours, we show the measurement behind it.

Free

$0 forever

about 10 premium minutes a month

Creator

$15 / mo

about 10 hours of premium audio a month

Studio

$49 / mo

about 30 hours of premium audio a month

Kokoro drafting is unlimited on every plan, the printed caps are the enforced ones, and the full grid lives on pricing. Our engines' third-party listener scores, with source and retrieval date, are on the open benchmark. Speechify's models do not appear in the Artificial Analysis Speech Arena as of June 2026, so there is no independent listener score to compare against ours, and we will not invent one.

A fair look

Where Speechify still wins.

If one of these describes you, do not switch. A switching guide that cannot say that is an ad.

You mostly listen, not produce

If the core job is hearing your own documents, web pages, and books, Speechify Premium is the category's best product and you should keep it.

You need a language we do not cover

Their 60-plus language catalogue is far wider than our engines' coverage today. For long-tail languages, breadth wins.

You are a school or reading-support user

The accessibility features and the K-12 grants program are genuinely valuable, and nothing we make replaces them.

Before you move

The migration questions, answered honestly.

I pay for more than one Speechify product. Which one do I cancel?
Start with your receipts. Premium, Studio, Audiobooks, and the API are billed as separate products as of June 2026, and it is easy to hold two without realizing. If the goal is producing voiceovers, Studio is the subscription Cantari replaces. If you mostly listen to your own reading, keep Premium; we do not make a reader and will not pretend to.
My trial has not converted yet. What should I check before it does?
The renewal terms and the date, while the trial is still live. Reviewers commonly report annual charges arriving at conversion, often between roughly $139 and $230 depending on the product. None of that is hidden, but it rewards a calendar reminder. Downloading your finished audio first costs nothing and keeps every option open.
Do my Studio credits or projects move over?
No. Unused credits stay theirs, and projects do not import here in either direction. What travels is the script: export any audio you want to keep while the account is active, bring the text, and regenerate. Drafting passes on Cantari run on Kokoro, which has no meter, so re-rendering a backlog costs nothing.
Speechify reads my files aloud. Does Cantari do that?
No. There is no reader here: no scan and listen, no narration of your own documents for your own ears. Cantari begins where a script and an audience exist. If listening is half of what you bought Speechify for, the honest setup may be both tools: their reader for your reading, our studio for what you publish.
What does testing Cantari actually cost?
A short script and a few minutes. The Free plan carries Kokoro drafting with no meter, about 10 premium minutes a month to audition the stronger engines, and MP3 export from day one, so the trial leaves you holding real files whatever you decide.
Keep comparing

Switch with evidence, not vibes.

Render one real chapter of your project here before you cancel anything over there. The Free plan exports, so the test costs nothing and you keep the files either way.
